Bahrain’s Riffa sealed the fourth spot among 12 teams yesterday during the Amsterdam stop of this year’s FIBA 3×3 World Tour.
This came after the Kingdom’s team, comprised of Dennis Donkor, Jonas Foerts, Caspar Augustijnen and Thibaut Vervoort, made it to the semi-finals but lost to Liman of Serbia by a score of 17–18.
In the game, although Riffa fell behind Liman early on, they fought back harder, thanks to Foerts, who tied the basket at seven.
Later, a Foerts two-pointer and a Donkor free throw gave the Bahraini team a 10-8 lead. However, the Serbians take control of the game for good after scoring five straight points.
Moreover, as Riffa fell behind the game, 11-15, A Donkor bucket pulled them within, 13-16.
Liman’s Stefan Kojic, however, increased their lead to four with 19 seconds left and sealed the win with a Mihailo Vasic free throw that made it 18-15 with three seconds left.
The game concluded when Vervoort made a two-pointer that cut Riffa’s total loss to just one point, 17-18.
