Bahrain’s renowned sprinter, 2024 Paris Olympics silver medalist Salwa Eid Naser, has successfully qualified for the upcoming Wanda Diamond League women’s 400-meter final next month.
Despite only participating in two out of the seven 400m races in this year’s Diamond League, the 26-year-old athlete accumulated sufficient points to qualify for the two-day Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium, on September 13 and 14.
Naser made her first appearance at the Paris Diamond League meeting in July, where she secured third place and claimed six points. Following that, she raced at the Silesia Diamond League meeting in Poland on Sunday, finishing as the runner-up and earning seven points.
The Wanda Diamond League is the top one-day series for athletics. It includes 15 of the most important one-day events in the sport, where both men and women compete in 16 main disciplines.
Athletes compete for points at 14 series meetings from April to September. The most successful in each discipline qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels.
In past seasons, Bahrain has won five Diamond Trophies, two of which were won by Naser in 2018 and 2019.
The other three were bagged by Rio 2016 Olympics champion Ruth Jebet in 2016 and 2017, and by Paris 2024 Olympics champion Winfred Yavi in 2023.
