BRAVE CF 90: After Toughest Test of His Career, Youssef Boughanem Vows to Prioritize MMA

Youssef Boughanem remained undefeated in MMA with a decision win at BRAVE CF 90 in Austria

Striking legend Youssef Boughanem faced the biggest challenge of his MMA career to date at BRAVE CF 90 when he took on French MMA veteran Johan Van de Hel. While Youssef secured the win and remained undefeated in his professional MMA career, the fight was a learning experience for the Striking world champion.

For most of the fight, the Moroccan dominated thanks to his striking prowess, which made him a multiple-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing world champion. However, Johan posed challenges with his grappling, especially in the second round, where the Frenchman nearly caused a major upset by locking in a submission. Johan, however, was unable to secure the finish, and in the third round, Youssef regained control with his striking to earn a decision victory.

With this win, Youssef extended his professional MMA record to three wins and no losses. Prior to BRAVE CF 90, he had secured a finish at BRAVE CF 83 in the Netherlands against Saad Touijar. Despite his two-fight winning streak in BRAVE CF, Youssef remains focused on improving his MMA skills.

“I Thank BRAVE Combat Federation for the opportunity. I want to fight soon, of course, but I also need to train. I made history in Muay Thai, but I am still a beginner in MMA. I have a lot of respect for the people who fight inside the cage,” Youssef noted after the win.

Interestingly, Youssef made his professional MMA debut in 2024, and in just one year, he has built an impressive three-fight winning streak, including two finishes, positioning himself well for 2025.

Youssef’s performance was one of the highlights of BRAVE CF 90, which marked BRAVE Combat Federation’s debut in Austria. The event, held at the Multiverse Schwechat in Vienna in association with Sparta CF, was a record-breaking outing for BRAVE CF as Austria became the 16th host nation in Europe and the 35th host nation globally, both of which are world records.
