HH Shaikh Nasser issues an edict, banning holding sporting events without Youth Ministry’s prior approval

Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today issued Edict 1/2021, regulating the holding of sports events.

According to the edict, no sporting events shall be held in the Kingdom without obtaining the prior approval of the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry’s Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate, which is the competent authority concerned with issuing approval for holding such events.

The Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate shall refer any request to hold a sporting event to the competent security and health authorities, and coordinate with the National Medical Taskforce to Combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in order to obtain the approval for holding the event.

The Legal Affairs and Licensing Directorate shall then contact those who submitted the request to inform them about the decision made by the competent authorities regarding their demand.
