Bahrain’s silver medalist from the Paris 2024 Olympics, Salwa Eid Naser, is set to wave the country’s flag at the Athlos NYC League, which will be launched by Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian.
The event, which is exclusively for female athletes who will compete in track events such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, and 100m, among others, will take place on Thursday, September 26, at Icahn Stadium in New York City.
The Nigerian-born Bahraini sprinter will compete in the women’s 400 meters against a lineup of elite sprinters, including Olympic medalists Gabby Thomas, Faith Kipyegon, Paulino, and Kendra Harrison.
Some of the athletes who are set to take the track are Alexis Holmes, Torrie Lewis, Lieke Klaver, Annie Tagoe, and Alaysha Johnson.
Recently, Naser bagged the silver medal in the women’s 400m at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a season-best time of 48.53 seconds.
In 2019, she was hailed as the world champion in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships, with the third fastest time in history of 48.14 seconds.
She became the youngest-ever champion in the event and the first woman from an Asian country to secure victory in that event at a World Championships.
